The “metropolis mountaineer” is a common sighting in New York City. These fellows repel down buildings to clean windows, repair damaged façade elements, fix electrical boxes (in this photo), etc.
I always wonder why the designers would install electrical boxes at such odd locations on buildings. In this photo the electric box could have been installed 5 feet lower or 2 feet higher to have easy access to it through the existing windows. Oh well, this is what creates repairman niches.
The trick in taking this shot was to wait for the repairman to come low enough so the background was clear of any windows or ledges from the building across that would take away the focus from him.
This shot was taken with 50mm prime at 1/640s, f/1.8 and ISO 400.
