Morning Fog

If you ever want to capture mood or create mystery in landscape photography a foggy day is the perfect time. The shots seen in the collage here were taken at Johnson park, Middlesex NJ. The morning was cold and quite, the lack of wind and heavy cloud cover helped keep the fog in place for a couple of hours.
A camera, sturdy tripod, grey card and a lens cleaning cloth are all you need for foggie landscape shots.
Fog scenes are usually underexposed and flat due to the highly diffused light. The remedy for underexposure is using a light meter or grey card (to correctly meter the scene) and for the "flatness", frame subjects of interest closer to the camera- this will help create depth to the picture.

Shots were taken anywhere from 1/8s to 3s at f/16 to f/32 depending on the scene (ISO 100).
