The holiday season is a great time to learn new tricks and capture awesome Bokeh.
In the image above I photographed a lite up Christmas tree at a wide aperture. This sounds simple enough but the trick here is to focus your lens up close.
The Christmas tree was about 15 feet away from me, however I focused the lens at 0.5 feet way. The closer you keep the focal point, the larger the light circles will appear.
You can apply this trick to street cars at night, or pretty much any bright and shiny objects - as long as there is some contrast in the scene you will have beautiful abstract images.
Camera settings: ISO400, f/2, 1/15s
