The Bee Run

Despite the advanced focusing speed and accuracy of today's cameras and lenses, shooting images of moving insects and birds is a game of numbers. However, having the camera and lens set correctly you can increase your chances. Here are some simple settings to get you going:
  1. Wide angle lens: More area to capture the subject in (wider angle of view)
  2. Center focus point: The center focus point is the fastest focus point on the camera sensor
  3. Shutter mode: Maintain a fast shutter (1/250s or higher), keep the ISO and aperture on auto.
  4. Raw: Shoot in raw for maximum image quality and post production flexibility.
  5. Continuous focus: This will allow the camera to maintain focus on the subject continuously.
  6. Back button focus: Set your camera to back button focus, you can keep your thumb pressed continuously (for a numbers of bursts) on the focus button and use your index finger to release the shutter as needed.
Camera Settings: ISO200, f/4, 1/200s
