2012 Kite Festival

As mentioned in my Blast from the past post, I managed to get a shot of the sunset from the same vantage point as done seven years ago. The good news was there were more people on the roof tops this year, however the bad news was the sky was not as dramatic.

The kite flying festival (Uttarayan) is a great economic booster- millions of feet of thread are prepared, hundreds of thousands of kites are made and tones of fireworks are sold.
Color mixture impregnated with crushed glass, this mixture is applied on thread to strengthen it and give it the required cutting power to cut opposition kites.
